Hozier secures a huge feat with latest single Too Sweet, as he becomes the first Irish artist to top the US Billboard Hot 100 chart in 34 years.

As well as celebrating two consecutive weeks atop the UK Official Singles Chart, Hozier is only the fourth Irish act to reach Number 1 in Billboard chart history; an achievement that's taken the singer 'massively by surprise.'

The last Irish artist to achieve chart-topping success on the Billboard Hot 100 was Sinéad O'Connor, when Nothing Compares 2 U spent four weeks at Number 1 in 1990. Prior to that, U2 scored two 1987 Number 1s with I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For and With Or Without You.

The first-ever Irish artist to score a Billboard chart-topper was Gilbert O'Sullivan, when Alone Again (Naturally) soared to the summit in July 1972.
